Macaneta - Mozambique

3 weeks ago, I was in Maputo for the week where I had the opportunity
to visit Macaneta for the day. The trip from Maputo, is short – I think we
took a little more then an hour and the were at the Ferry. I had heard that
the ferry sometimes had problems or you have to wait for it for hours.
However we arrived and not even 15 minutes later we were arriving on
the other side. Macaneta is beautiful, I would never have guessed a
beach so close to Maputo could be so clean and clear.

We only had a few hours to play with, so we visit Jays Lodge for the day,
where we had some nice cold beer and enjoyed the sea breeze!

On our way home after a few hours, once over to Maraquene with the
ferry we stopped at local restaurant for some cheap chicken! And boy
was it good. The place seemed famous as it was full of people, you get
to chose your meat (we choose chicken) and then they grill it for you on
the spot! You also get pap and salad.

The bathrooms should be avoided though – they charge you 5 meticais
if you are big and 3 meticais if you are small :) yes its true! However - women! Come equipped!

The chicken was delicious and CHEAP compared to Maputo!

Great times! I will be back as soon as I can!
